'Il se Mange un Mur'

I was chatting with Aurele, Cecile and Gilles from the french forum, when we came to talking about the monthly challenge: breakfast. Then someone mentioned "manger un mur", which translates to eating a wall. I was a bit confused at first, but then someone explained that manger un mur can mean running into a wall. Soon I had an idea for how to fold such a thing, and eventually ended up with this semi-boxpleated CP:

The top right and bottom left corners can be cut off or folded over... I don't point those parts out in my other CPs

Anyway, if you manage to shape it correctly, the model should come out as a man running into a wall, alors 'il se mange un mur'.

What I Eat in the Morning

This month, the challenge on the french forum is to fold your breakfast. So it looks like I'm stuck with cereal and fruit, because thats all I usually eat for breakfast. For once, I actually ended up with something that wasn't boxpleating! Even if it didn't turn out very well, I'm still quite proud of it. The CP is based on a blintz base, but isn't quite.

The crimp folds are what shape it into a bowl. Fold the crimps after making the almost blintz base.

Also, with a bowl of cereal, I just had to fold a spoon to eat it with. That turner out to be quite easy to fold. sadly, it wasn't so easy to make a CP of, but heres what I came up with anyway:

Grasshopper

This summer when I was in France, I saw a tiny little grasshopper. It's body seemed shorter than it's hind legs. I decided that it would probably be nice to try and fold it, so I started trying out CPs the other day. For some reason, I decided on using a 24:24 grid. With plenty of trial and error, here's what I ended up with:

I think I might just try this same idea with a 32:32 grid sometime.

Anyway, the CP should eventually fold into this little insect. Be sure to include the face (that is if you can figure out how I made it):

Eating Spiders

What eats spiders? Why a spider eater, of course. This is my fourth and final design for the english forum's d20 challenge. It turned out quite strange, but that must be a good thing because the monster itself looks strange. Once again, the CP is based on the Arrowhawk. I have no idea why, but it seems that all (but one) of my decisions for what to design have the same number of points. Maybe it's just a strange coincidence. Anyway, here is the remarkably similar CP from a 32:16 grid:


I don't have much to say about this model. I guess the only really important things about this model are to color change the wings and be sure to not make the abdomen too small.



Also, this model won the d20 challenge.

The Butterfly Tree?

Yes. Thats the name of my latest design, the butterfly tree. It was designed for this month's challenge on the french forum, which has to do with a haiku. A certain haiku, written by Arakida Moritake:

Tombée de la branche
Une fleur y est retournée:
C'était un papillon !

Which translates into:

Fallen from the tree
A flower has returned to there:
It was a butterfly!

And that is why I chose a butterfly tree. Here is the CP that I randomly came up with from a 20:20 grid:


That CP folds into this tall tree. Be sure to color change the ends of the branches so that they look like butterflies:
